CAST AND
CREW > Lieutenant Leslie /
Eddie Paskey
Member of the U.S.S. Enterprise crew beginning in 2265 as a security guard, he was part of the landing party that detained Gary Mitchell on Delta Vega. During the course of his tour of duty on the Enterprise, Lieutenant Leslie performed many duties, including transporter operator, helmsman, navigator, security officer and engineer. Although his name was "Leslie", several crewmembers, including Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock mistakenly referred to him by other names on occasion, such as "Ryan", "Connors" and "Rand." Lieutenant Leslie was killed by the dikironium cloud creature in 2267, but was somehow miraculously revived and resumed his duties aboard the Enterprise. Several theories include a cut scene from "Obsession" where all the crewmembers killed by the creature are revived in sick-bay and the possibility of a twin brother. Rather than list what episodes he appeared in, it's easier to list the ones he didn't appear in. Mr. Leslie did not appear in "The Cage", "Court Martial", "The Menagerie, Part II", "A Taste of Armageddon", "The Paradise Syndrome", "The Empath" and the remainder of the third season. He is the most common recurring character with a total of 58 appearances.
Hired on "Star Trek" primarily as one of William Shatner's stunt-doubles, Eddie Paskey was asked to be a "background extra" on the show. As episodes continued to be produced, his role as an extra eventually expanded into the familiar role of Mr. Leslie, the character who usually answered most orders with a simple "aye, sir." On occasion, such as in "The Alternative Factor", Mr. Leslie was given a more prominent role in "This Side of Paradise" where he declares mutiny against Captain Kirk. Not faring much further than "Star Trek" in his acting career, Paskey made a couple of guest appearances on "Mission: Impossible", playing the character "Steve." Leaving the acting
profession, Paskey to this day owns and operates an automobile parts
store in Santa Ana, California. He returned to the world of "Star
Trek", playing his character, Mr. Leslie's, grandfather in the
fan-made "Star Trek: New Voyages" in 2003.
