Vina was a crewmember of the ill-fated SS Columbia mission launched to the Talos Star Group by the American Continent Institute. She was injured in 2236 when the SS Columbia crashed on Talos. The Talosian's tried to put her back together and used her as part of the trap that they had set for Captain Pike.
